EDIT8190  “Lello!” – Emotion analysis mobile app prototype

I designed and created this mobile app prototype that quantifies and visualizes user’s emotional status with the self-emotion reporting instrument, Geneva Emotion Wheel. This application aims to enhance students’ emotional self-awareness, which is closely related to self-regulation and learning.
Lello will enable users to track their emotional state and related life events on a regular basis, with the goal of increasing their emotional self-awareness and resiliency. Periodic visual reports of aggregate emotional states are generated and shared with the teacher and peers (shared group can be adjusted by the student), allowing for the understanding and monitoring of emotional trends as well as the identification of significant events in one another’s lives.

[AECT 22′ Proposal]
Faculty Beliefs About the Teacher-Student Relationship in Pandemic-Driven Educational Practices

Komal, SJ, and I as a team submitted a research proposal to AECT 22′. The purpose of this study is to investigate faculty members’ self-efficacy beliefs about the teacher-student relationship in the context of pandemic-driven technology integration. We will also look into faculty members’ subjective perceptions of the transactional distance between student and teacher (TDST) in online learning settings and how they affect their teacher self-efficacy (TSE), as well as the factors and variables that induced this phenomenon.

EDIT8100 Be the Expert – Executive Summary

After exploring foundational theories and major discussions of LDT (e.g., PBL debate, the great media debate), I identified 6 articles that are considered seminal in my area of focus. During this “Be the Expert” project, I’ve connected emotional states of students with cognitive strategies of learning, their meaning-making processes, motivation, transfer, and subsequent achievement.

ERSH6060 Special Topic Papers

Along with weekly discussions and reflection essays on motivational constructs, I’ve written “Special Topic Papers” once a month, which allowed me to incorporate and apply theories I’ve learned in the classroom to real-world context. The following topics were covered:
1) Analyzing the decisions and behaviors of a chosen character in a film.
2) Examining the various elements of a course to determine how they aided autonomy.
3) Creating a teacher professional development program to help teachers redesign their instruction based on on mastery goal-orientation.

GRSC7770 Graduate Teaching

As a teaching assistant preparing to instruct undergraduate students, I’ve created a statement of my teaching philosophy that reflects my background, teaching goals, instructional strategies, and fundamental beliefs about learning. Additionally, I’ve identified UGA resources for future reference, observed the course I’ll be teaching, and adjusted a syllabus based on my teaching philosophy.

Design-Based Research : “Lello!” – Emotion analysis mobile app prototype

Instructional Design Project for the North-West University (NWU)

I was a project manager for this instructional design team project. Our team, Mindbenders, designed a blended training program for the faculty members of NWU on the technology integration framework (TPACK) and VR/AR-enhanced teaching methodology. We implemented the ADDIE model for the instructional design.

Online Training Module for Faculties of NWU – TPACK Model

As based on the aforementioned project, the introductory online module I designed was needed for the beginning of the training. This online module is about the TPACK framework for the technology-integrated classroom. You can try out the online course by clicking the button, “Online Module.”

Technology-integrated Learning : The Talking Dictionary Companion Course

This technology-enhanced language course will be used in South Africa. It aims to motivate Afrikaans parents to see the value in being able to communicate with native black people in their mother tongue language and to enroll their children in the program. The Talking Dictionary is an audiovisual book that incorporates the Callfinder® technology where readers can listen to the pronunciation of terms and phrases in different languages using the Callfinder® device.

Evaluation of Athens-Clark County Mentoring Program

With teammates, I developed evaluation plans and assessment tools for the Athens-Clark County Mentoring Program in Athens, GA. The purpose of this evaluation plan was to determine the mentors’ progress, the quality and standard of their work, the impact of the program, and the value added to the community.
